It's been exactly one week since Lee and I took Nala to my co-worker's house on a trial basis. She and her husband have two kids and two dogs. We met for a "doggie playdate" last Saturday, which went great. We then spent some time in their house and observed the dogs as they interacted. Nala is significantly smaller than one (who is actually the youngest - only about 18 months!), and a little smaller than the other. Together, they're all like stairs...or as someone said that day, the AT&T bars. ☺
I cried a little as we left their house, but not much, because in my mind I still thought it wasn't quite permanent yet, so no need to have yet another meltdown. Things are still going well. I was a little concerned about Chief's (the largest dog) size compared to Nala. We all were. But I saw a video of the two of them playing, and my mind was immediately eased. They get along well. He almost "tempers" his play a little because of her size. And once Benny (dalmatian) stops trying to hump her, it'll be great! ☺ My co-worker said I could send over some stuff that Nala likes, which I gave her on Tuesday. But typical of me, even that was really hard. I couldn't pack it up and put it in my car! Lee had to do it. Later on in the week, she requested her vet records and microchip information, and they were planning a "group field trip" to the vet this weekend. So it seems like Nala has found a great home. But nothing is absolutely set in stone quite yet.
She has sent me several pictures since Saturday, which I uploaded to Nala's web album. I do have to admit, though, that I did get a little teary when I looked at the album in its entirety. This has been difficult. Nala has been a big part of our lives for almost two years. But I'm also happy for her...excited, even! She gets to play with other dogs everyday! She gets more attention now, and it's so great for her!
